Since this is the first blog, I will also be discussing a few events from the last month or so, including the jericho return and the announcement of the NJPW vs TNA show on January 4th. Well, let begin!
WWE:
Raw this week was another night of the same old wrestling. Jericho and Umaga was going well until the Orton interference. Was it really necessary to come down and ruin the best match of the night? Wouldn't it have been just as effective if he did the same attack after the match?
The other highlight of Raw was when Kennedy was inviting the fake Razor Ramon into the ring and said "Wow, nice to see you could show up". Thought it was a nice touch.
ROH Man Up:
The only word that can describe this PPV is wow. Every match was amazing and the Ladder Match even with its high expectations, was able to deliver. For those of you that haven't seen it, make sure you check it out.
The Jericho Return:
When Jericho came in and clotheslined the runner, I have to say that was one of the most exciting moments i've ever seen on Raw. Even with everyone knowing that it was going to be him it was still so exciting to see him again. His promo on Orton during the first night back was very good, but since then I don't feel as though this feud has been able to deliver. Jericho's match and promo with Santino was good, and his interference was....confusing, but I really don't feel as though these two mean REALLY hate eachother. I mean its hard to take Jericho seriously. It will be interesting to see where they go from here, but having Orton RKO Jericho and then Y2J not being able to get Orton in the liontamer does make Jericho look weak.
NJPW vs TNA
Although this blog will have little to do with Puroresu as the feuds are often too hard to follow, I felt a need to discuss this "fued" if that is where they are going with this. For those who may not know, January 4th will be the night that TNA and NJPW wrestle against each other in the Tokyo Dome. The card is as follows:
1. Manabu Nakanishi vs. Abyss
2. IWGP Tag Team Title: Giant Bernard & Travis Tomko (c) vs. Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner
3. IWGP 3rd Belt: Kurt Angle (c) vs. Yuji Nagata
4. IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs. Winner of Nakamura/Makabe (12/9)
Anyone who knows much about Nakanishi want to email me letting me know his style and what hes like. Over the next little while I will be looking for some matches of him to give you guys a complete view of that match.
The IWGP tag team title match is interesting. The Steiner Brothers at one time were one of the most over Gaijin teams in Japan, but alot has changed since the early 1990's. I'm wondering how the crowd will react, and also what kind of show these two men will be able to put on.
Angle vs Nagata, wow. This is one of my dream matches. Angle is a stiff wrestler, but I have doubts as to whether or not he can hang with Nagata. This match should be a classic stiff bout with lots of strikes and counter wrestling. Will it be the Ankle lock of the Nagata lock that reigns supreme? Another factor that influences this match has to be the fact that Angle is the IWGP 3rd belt holder. What happens if Nagata is able to beat Angle, does the title dissolve? Or is there a match with the winner of the Tanahashi vs #1 contender match? It will be interesting to see what happens there, and i'll try to keep you all informed.
It is hard to say what the IWGP title match will be like, but my prediction is a Nakamura victory over Makabe, however i'll discuss in more detail when the match is announced.
Also just announced is the return of THE GREAT MUTA for the 1/4 show. It will be interesting to see in what capacity he will play a role in the show. It was suggested to me that he might do something with sting, considering their past, but with Stings contract up in the air we will have to wait and see!
